Marlins acquire RHP Aaron Crow from Kansas City Royals

2011 All-Star acquired in exchange for LHP Brian Flynn & RHP Reid Redman

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins today announced that they have acquired right-handed reliever Aaron Crow from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for minor league pitchers LH Brian Flynn and RH Reid Redman. The announcement was made by Marlins' President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.

Crow, 28, was 6-1, 4.12 with three saves in 67 relief appearances with the Royals this past season, holding opposing batters to a .240 average, including a .215 average by righties. He recorded a 2.75 ERA and a .224 batting average against prior to the All-Star break and had a 2.53 ERA on the road.  

An All-Star in his rookie season of 2011, Crow has compiled a 20-11, 3.43 ERA in 254 career relief appearances. His 20 wins are tied for second-most among AL relievers since the start of 2011. Crow was drafted by the Nationals in the first round (9th overall) of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign. He was then selected by the Royals in the first round (12th overall) in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Crow pitched at the University of Missouri, where he was Big 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2008. He was born and raised near Topeka, Kan.
