Marlins Foundation announces Compression for Life Program with bullpen catcher Jeff Urgelles

Program includes healthy eating and exercise seminars, CPR training and certification

The Marlins Foundation today announced Compression for Life, a new program geared to teaching heart health and providing CPR and first aid training to the youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami Dade.

After saving the life of a young woman who had collapsed with cardiac arrest, Marlins catcher Jeff Urgelles decided to start a CPR class for the kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Miami Dade. Marlins Foundation supported his effort with a $5,000 contribution.

The Marlins Foundation has partnered with the local American Heart Association to start the Compression for Life Program. Below is the class schedule. For more information, please contact Marlins Foundation at 305-480-2550 or [email protected].

Class Schedule

Heart Health – Tuesday, January 22, 2013 – 4:30 P.M.

Teaching the importance of healthy eating and exercise and how both aspects contribute to positive heart health.

CPR Training – Tuesday, January 29, 2013 – 4:30 P.M.

Teaching the skills needed to provide CPR, AED and First Aid.

CPR Certification Class – Saturday, February 9, 2013 - TBD

Opportunity to acquire CPR certification.
