Dehydration not likely to keep Harvey from start
Righty skips Wednesday night's flight due to symptoms, but Mets expect him to join club this weekend
NEW YORK -- Matt Harvey's dehydration symptoms, which had him confined to the Citi Field trainer's room for at least an hour after Wednesday's 9-4 win over the Phillies, were severe enough to prevent him from boarding the team plane to Miami later that night. The Mets, however, expect Harvey to join them in Florida later this weekend and make his next start as scheduled Tuesday in Washington.
Harvey pitched into the seventh inning of Wednesday's victory, alerting the team to his symptoms during the game. He allowed four earned runs in the win, matching his second-highest total of the season.
Overall, Harvey is 12-7 with a 2.60 ERA in 25 starts in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. The Mets plan to skip his turn in the rotation later this month in a final push to keep his total innings in check. If the Mets reach the playoffs, they do not plan to limit Harvey -- or any of their other starting pitchers -- in any way in the postseason.
