Mets add right-hander Bashlor in 11th round

The Mets took Tyler Bashlor, a pitcher from South Georgia College, on Saturday in the 11th round of the First-Year Player Draft.
The 6-foot, 220-pound Bashlor is a sturdy right-hander with good arm strength and a very good fastball that he sometimes has difficulty with. At times, he has to back off it for strikeouts and it allows hitters to track it easier. But that same fastball velocity gives him an outside shot at being a closer in the pros if he can harness it properly.
Bashlor went 5-3 with a 2.96 ERA for South Georgia this past season. He allowed 36 hits in 51 2/3 innings, and had an astounding 81 strikeouts.
He has a business-like demeanor on the mound with a decent curveball and a better slider.
