Mets legend Staub recovering from heart attack

NEW YORK -- Longtime Met and current team ambassador Rusty Staub suffered a heart attack en route from Ireland to New York City earlier this week, the Mets confirmed on Saturday. Staub's plane was diverted back to Ireland, where Staub is now "resting comfortably in a hospital," according to a team news release.

"The prognosis is good and Rusty and his family ask that we respect his privacy during this period," the release continued. "He is in the thoughts and prayers of the Mets organization."

Staub, 71, remains a frequent visitor to Citi Field. He played for the Mets from 1972-75, and again from 1981 until his retirement in 1985.
