More Than 5,000 Students Will be Treated to Pre-Game Program About Exercise and Eating Right Designed by Alliance for a Healthier Generation

The New York Mets today announced that the annual Fitness & Nutrition Education Day will take place this Monday, June 4 at Citi Field prior to the Mets hosting the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:10 p.m.

More than 5,000 students from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will be treated to a one-hour educational program designed by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a national non-profit organization founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation working to combat childhood obesity.

Energetic Juniors, who inspire children and adolescents to enjoy making physical activity an integral part of their lives, will lead the students through a series of exercises and activities that will help them experience the pleasure, self-esteem and confidence of being fit and active.

The program will also cover stretching and exercise drills and the importance of a healthy diet.  Mr. Met will be on hand to entertain students and shoot t-shirts into the crowd.  At the conclusion of program, the students will stay at the ballpark to watch the game.
