Wright or Norris to start for O's on Sunday

HOUSTON -- The Orioles have not decided on a starter for Sunday, though the two options are rookie Mike Wright and Bud Norris, who is on a rehab assignment.

The decision is a little more difficult given that the team has not heard about the result of Brian Matusz's appeal for an eight-game suspension, which could force them to play short in the bullpen. Matusz was suspended for pitching with a foreign substance on his arm.

"Obviously you have Mike's normal day, Bud could pitch there," manager Buck Showalter said of Norris, who was purposely shortened to four innings in his rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday so he could be an option. "I'll talk to him, see what he thinks. Also if Brian gets suspended, there's a possibility Mike or anybody could go to the bullpen."

Showalter said he probably wouldn't put Norris in the bullpen.

"The question is what you do with Mike," he said. "It's a good problem to have. He's presented himself real well."

Wright has posted a 2.96 ERA over four starts with the Orioles.
