Crew invites top prospects to Spring Training

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers included four top prospects among a slew of Major League Spring Training camp invitations on Tuesday: pitchers Jed Bradley and Taylor Jungmann, first baseman Hunter Morris and outfielder Kentrail Davis.

Also invited to big league camp were right-hander Donovan Hand and catchers Anderson De La Rosa, Adam Weissenburger and Rafael Neda.

Jungmann and Bradley, Milwaukee's first-round picks in the 2011 Draft, rank third and fourth on MLB.com's list of top #Brewers prospects. Morris ranks seventh and Davis 11th.

No Brewers prospect has garnered as much buzz over the past year as Morris, 24, the reigning MVP of the Double-A Southern League and the Brewers' 2012 Minor League Player of the Year after batting .303 with 28 home runs and 113 RBIs in a breakthrough season at Huntsville. He is expected to begin the this season at Triple-A Nashville, and with another strong year could be an option to man first base in Milwaukee by the start of '14. The incumbent at first, Corey Hart, is entering the final year of his contract.

Davis, 24 and a supplemental first-round Draft pick in 2009, batted .274 with seven home runs and 41 RBIs at Huntsville last season, and like Morris he will be in his first big league camp.

Jungmann and Bradley are camp veterans, having attended last year as the Brewers' reigning first-round Draft picks. Jungmann, a right-hander, had a solid professional debut, going 11-6 with a 3.53 ERA in 26 starts at advanced Class A Brevard County, but Bradley, a left-hander, struggled with a nagging groin issue and inconsistency. He was 5-10 with a 5.53 ERA in 20 starts for Brevard.

Right-hander Hand, 26, did not crack the Brewers' Top 20 prospect list but has been a solid organizational man, posting a 3.60 ERA in six seasons as a Milwaukee farmhand while working mostly in relief. He spent all of 2012 and most of 2011 at Triple-A Nashville.
