Milwaukee sets starters for St. Louis series

CHICAGO -- The Brewers on Saturday announced their starting rotation for their next series in St. Louis. Right-hander Wily Peralta will open the series at Busch Stadium on Tuesday, followed by right-handers Marco Estrada and Tyler Thornburg on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Estrada hasn't pitched since an Aug. 31 start against the Angels, and when his turn comes around Wednesday, he will have had 11 days between starts.

Manager Ron Roenicke doesn't think the longer layoff will affect Estrada.

"I don't think it's that big a deal," Roenicke said. "If it bothers you and mentally you think, 'Oh, wow, I'm going to be out of whack,' it could make a difference. But it really shouldn't.

"You're already in great shape [and] you've pitched through the season. You should come back [from a longer layoff] feeling refreshed. Your arm should feel good, you throw two or three bullpens in between, and it should work out."
