Minnesota Twins Announce 2016 Schedule

Home Opener Slated for April 11 vs. Chicago White Sox

MINNEAPOLIS - ST PAUL, MN - The Minnesota Twins today announced their preliminary regular season schedule for the 2016 season; the team's 56th campaign in Twins Territory.

Minnesota will open the season on the road against the Baltimore Orioles (April 4, 6 and 7) followed by three games in Kansas City against the Royals (April 8-10).

The Twins then return home for the Opening Series at Target Field against the Chicago White Sox (April 11, 13 and 14), a set against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (April 15-17) and a two-game tilt against the Milwaukee Brewers (April 18 and 19).

The Twins will play 20 interleague games dispersed throughout the course of the 2016 regular season (7 in April / 6 in June / 2 in July / 2 in Aug. / 3 in Sept.). The home interleague schedule includes a "home and home" series against the Milwaukee Brewers (April 18 and 19 at Target Field), a series against the Miami Marlins (June 7-9) a set against the Philadelphia Phillies (June 21-23) and a visit by the Atlanta Braves (July 26 and 27). In addition, the Twins will visit the Milwaukee Brewers (April 20 and 21), the Washington Nationals (April 22-24), the Atlanta Braves (Aug. 16 and 17) and the New York Mets (Sept. 16-18).

The Twins 2016 schedule features 46 home games between Memorial Day (May 30) and Labor Day (Sept. 5). The Twins will play 13 home games in the month of April; 11 in May; 17 in June; 14 in July; 10 in August; and 16 in September. Other home schedule highlights include a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox (June 10-12), a weekend series against the New York Yankees ending on Father's Day (June 16-19), an Independence Day game against the Oakland Athletics (July 4) and a Labor Day game against the Kansas City Royals (Sept. 5).

The Twins will play each of their American League Central Division rivals 19 times: the Chicago White Sox (10 home/9 away), the Kansas City Royals (9 home/10 away), the Detroit Tigers (9 home/10 away) and the Cleveland Indians (9 home/10 away). The Twins will face all American League Central Division teams three series at home and three series on the road.

New season tickets for the 2016 season are now on sale. Fans who purchase a season ticket package for 2016 will establish 2015 postseason priority and will have the opportunity to purchase in advance of the general public.
