Minors Matters

• Top prospect Oscar Taveras was recently put back on the Triple-A disabled list after aggravating a right ankle injury that sidelined him for four weeks this season. The Cardinals have not projected how long Taveras will be out, nor are they speculating as to whether Taveras will be able to participate in the upcoming SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on July 14.

• The Cardinals removed reliever Fernando Salas from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Memphis, where Salas has been for his Minor League rehab assignment. Since beginning that rehab stint, Salas has made five scoreless appearances. He pitched two innings Thursday, and the Cardinals have expressed an interest in having Salas continue to stretch out so that he can be used as a long reliever this season.

• Memphis first baseman Brock Peterson capped a three-hit game Thursday by sending Memphis to a walk-off win with a 10th-inning, two-run homer. The blast was Peterson's 19th of the season, which leads the Pacific Coast League.
