Rays to open 2016 by hosting Blue Jays

Interleague Play planned against Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Marlins

DETROIT -- The tentative 2016 Major League Baseball schedule has been released, and the Rays start next year's regular season with a doozy, hosting the Blue Jays on Opening Day to begin a four-game series from April 4-7.

Following a three-game trip to Baltimore, Tampa Bay will also welcome the Indians, White Sox and Orioles to Tropicana Field in April, including a home game during Jackie Robinson Day on April 15.

Tentative 2016 Rays schedule

The Yankees will make their first visit of the 2016 campaign for a three-game stint May 27-29, and the Red Sox -- who will be the last American League East opponent to play at Tampa Bay -- are scheduled for the end of June.

The schedule includes home Interleague contests against the Dodgers, Marlins, Giants and Padres.

Rays 2016 ticket plans

The Rays will have July 11-14 off for the All-Star break before beginning the second half of the season at home against the Orioles.

Tampa Bay will play 26 straight games against AL East opponents from the end of August through the middle of September, including an 11-day, 11-game road trip to New York, Toronto and Baltimore.

The Rays will host the Yankees and Red Sox from Sept. 20-25 before finishing the regular season with series at the White Sox and the Rangers from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.
