MLB Taking Kids to See 42
Just about every year, a new Baseball movie comes out, making us all smile as we watch our favorite sport dramatized on the silver screen. Only once in a generation, however, does a movie about Baseball come out that tells the tale of a groundbreaking event so well that we all rejoice at the magnificence of the game we love. Such is the case with “42.”
Over coming weeks, all 30 MLB Clubs will host free private screenings of #42Movie for thousands of local teens (grades 8-12).

Telling the story of Jackie Robinson and the incredible trials and tribulations that he and his family had to endure when he became the first African-American to play Major League Baseball, “42” transcends the sports genre and lands firmly in the realm of “classic film.” It’s a universal tale that should be experienced by all so it’s only fitting that Major League Baseball and the 30 Clubs under its umbrella are taking thousands of teenagers to see the movie. It’s a great move on MLB’s part to raise awareness for Jackie and Baseball, and it presents a unique opportunity for a younger generation to experience the amount of perseverance that Robinson had to display just to play a game. Baseball is timeless and this movie is a perfect example of how a simple sport can alter the course of history.
