Nats name Camillo chief revenue and marketing officer

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals announced on Tuesday that Valerie J. Camillo has been named chief revenue and marketing officer, responsible for all revenue-generating departments, including ticketing, marketing, special events and corporate partnerships. She will assume the new role on Feb. 18.

Camillo most recently served as vice president with the NBA's team marketing and business operations (TMBO) group, which acts as a liaison between the league office and the teams of the NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League.

During her three-year tenure, Camillo directed TMBO's content, analytics and day-to-day support to teams in the areas of ticket sales and service, marketing, premium and sponsorship. She worked closely with team presidents to analyze business data and advise them on best practices in areas in which there were opportunities for growth and improved business performance. As an NBA Account Manager, she was also responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship between her assigned teams and the league for all business issues.

Prior to working with the NBA, Camillo was a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton and worked for IBM Consulting/PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She grew up in Oakton, Va., and attended James Madison High School in Vienna before earning both her B.S. and MBA from the University of Virginia.

"Valerie brings a unique skill set and invaluable experience that will enhance the Nationals organization and build upon the great foundation we have already established," said Alan H. Gottlieb, Lerner Sports' chief operating officer. "We expect great things for Nationals fans, both on and off the field, and we think Valerie is the right person to help lead our business and continue to provide our fans with the ultimate ballpark experience."
