A's announce 2014 Spring Training schedule

Club to play final Cactus League season at Phoenix Municipal Stadium

OAKLAND -- The A's Spring Training schedule is out, with the reigning American League West champions set to open Cactus League play Feb. 26 against the host Giants in Scottsdale, Ariz.

A's pitchers and catchers will report Feb. 14, with position players slated to report Feb. 19. The team's first full-squad workout will take place the following day.

Oakland's first home game at Phoenix Municipal Stadium is scheduled for Feb. 27 against the Brewers. It's one of 15 contests the A's will play there this year, their last at the facility before relocating to the Cubs' current Spring Training home at HoHokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., in 2015.

The A's will welcome in division foe Texas on March 1, and other top home attractions include the Dodgers (March 3) and the traditional St. Patrick's Day affair with the Cubs.

The exhibition schedule has the A's and Giants playing each other seven times, including once at Phoenix Muni (Feb. 28) and three times at Scottsdale Stadium (Feb. 26, March 15, March 21). Moreover, the annual Bay Bridge Series features a pair of 7:15 p.m. PT games at AT&T Park on March 27 and 28, and an afternoon finale at the Coliseum beginning at 1:05 p.m. PT on March 29.

The A's will play a total of 34 exhibition games before enjoying an off-day March 30 in advance of their regular-season opener at home against the Indians, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PT.
