One KC affiliate on verge of title, another on to finals

Triple-A Omaha leads PCL series 2-0; Rookie League Idaho Falls advances

Triple-A Omaha is one victory away from winning the Pacific Coast League championship, while Rookie League Idaho Falls earned a chance to play for the Pioneer League title.

Brian Fletcher hit a walk-off home run to give the Storm Chasers a 2-1 victory over Salt Lake on Wednesday in Game 2, putting Omaha ahead, 2-0, in the best-of-five series. Omaha won the first game, 3-2, earlier in the day after it was suspended Tuesday due to rain.

"I hit it well," Fletcher told MiLB.com. "It's hard to hit a ball out of this park, especially out to right and center. It plays pretty deep. I started thinking I had a chance when I saw [Salt Lake right fielder Drew] Heid start running hard."

Starter Yordano Ventura threw six innings of one-run ball, while lefty Zach Jackson followed with three scoreless frames.

In Pioneer League playoff action, Idaho Falls beat Grand Junction, 5-3, in the nightcap of Wednesday's doubleheader to advance to the finals against the Helena Brewers.

Michael Antonio led the Chukars by going 3-for-4 with two home runs in the second game, while Game 2 starter Yender Caramo allowed two runs on two hits and struck out six in seven innings.
