Machado goes 4-for-4 in third rehab contest

BALTIMORE -- Orioles third baseman Manny Machado went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and one walk on Sunday in his third rehab appearance for Class A Advanced Frederick.

Machado also played in games on Friday and Saturday -- going a combined 4-for-8 with three extra-base hits. He's now 8-for-12 overall and has played two games in the field at third base plus one as the designated hitter.

"We'll see where we are at the end of [Sunday]," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said prior to the Orioles' 9-3 loss to the Royals. "I think the biggest part of that equation is what Manny thinks. We're a lot closer than we were."

Showalter said Machado will likely be the DH at Frederick again on Monday.

"Who knows? Manny might be another four or five days, six days [or] a week," Showalter said. "I don't think it's fair to say it's going to be in this realm. It's not fair to Manny, [and] it has nothing to do with the Chris Davis move, in my mind."
