Top prospect Bundy goes five scoreless at Class A

If the early results are any indication, it appears Dylan Bundy's return from Tommy John surgery is going well.

Bundy made his second start since 2012 on Saturday, striking out nine batters over five scoreless innings for Class A Aberdeen in a 3-1 loss to Brooklyn. Bundy, the Orioles' No. 1 prospect, gave up two hits and a walk.

Bundy struck out the first two batters he faced, struck out the side in the second inning and didn't give up a hit until the fourth. He gave up a single and a stolen base that inning before catching the baserunner trying to steal home.

Bundy then surrendered a double before picking up another strikeout. He issued a one-out walk in the fifth inning and promptly struck out the last two batters he faced.

Bundy gave up a run on five hits and struck out six for Aberdeen last Sunday, his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Ranked No. 17 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, Bundy reached the Majors in his first full season with the Orioles after going 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 23 Minor League starts. The former first-round Draft pick pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in two games for Baltimore that September.
