Hall artifacts to be on display for All-Star break
T-Mobile All-Star FanFest will feature over 115 pieces of history from Cooperstown
A number of historical baseball artifacts from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will be on display at next week's T-Mobile FanFest in New York, including some from memorable moments in the city's rich history.
There will be more than 115 artifacts, direct from the collections of the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from Friday through July 16.
They will include:
• The home jersey worn by Mets manager Gil Hodges during the 1969 World Series as he led the "Miracle Mets" to their first World Series title.
• The FDNY cap worn by Mets reliever and Brooklyn native John Franco to honor the first responders in New York after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
• The bat former Met Mike Piazza used to hit his 352nd career home run as a catcher, breaking Carlton Fisk's Major League record.
The five-day FanFest is the world's largest interactive baseball fan event and will also feature interactive activities, historical exhibits, autographs, youth clinics and more. All attractions are free with the price of admission ($35 for adults and $30 for children 12 and under, senior citizens and military personnel), and the only additional event costs are for concessions and memorabilia.
