Padres announce Spring Training schedule
After Cactus League wraps up, club will play White Sox in exhibitions at Petco Park
SAN DIEGO -- The Padres announced their Spring Training schedule on Thursday, and it comes with a wrinkle.
Not all of the games will be played in Arizona, as the team will finish with two exhibition games against the White Sox at Petco Park on April 1-2.
The Padres play 16 of their 32 spring games at the Peoria Sports Complex, 14 as the home team.
The team's annual charity game against the Mariners will be played on March 2, with the Padres as the visiting team.
In all, the home schedule includes three night games and a total of 10 games against National League West opponents.
Fans attending games at the Peoria Sports Complex will notice a 3,300 square foot social area down the left-field line that is part of the renovation project for the ballpark. The area will feature an upscale catering menu, a private bar, bartender, televisions and a viewing patio. The area will be available to groups of up to 150 people.
Pitchers and catchers report to the team's facility in Arizona on Feb. 19, with the full squad set to report on Feb. 24. The first workout is Feb. 20, with the first full-squad workout set for Feb. 25.
The Padres will break camp following a Cactus League game against the Mariners on March 30 and play the following day in El Paso against the Triple-A affiliate before heading to Petco Park.
The Padres open the regular season on April 4 at Petco Park against the Dodgers at 4:05 p.m. PT. That Opening Day tilt will be televised by ESPN. FOX Sports San Diego will televise the game locally as well.
Tickets for all Spring Training and exhibition games will go on sale on Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased at www.padres.com/spring. Individual-game tickets are priced from $7-$32 with discounts available for advanced purchase and season-ticket packages.
