Myers comfortable at plate since return

DENVER -- On Sunday, Padres first baseman/outfielder Wil Myers appeared in his 15th game since coming off the disabled list on Sept. 4.

After missing 98 games with two separate stints on the disabled list, the second coming when he had surgery to remove a bone spur in his left wrist, it took a while for Myers to find his swing.

After getting three hits in his first 18 at-bats with eight strikeouts, Myers is hitting .306 with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs in his last 36 at-bats, including Sunday when he went 1-for-4 with a walk in a 10-4 victory over the Rockies.

"I feel good. The biggest thing is doing it day in and day out. I feel I'll have a good game and then a bad game," Myers said. "… I really like where I'm at right now as opposed to a week and a half ago. I feel I'm where I need to be.

"It's having confidence in knowing every single at-bat I'm going to do something."

Myers had two hits, including a home run, Friday night and added two more hits Saturday night against the Rockies. He's hitting .259 since coming off the disabled list. He's been more selective at times, too. He took three walks in a game against the D-backs on Wednesday.

"The thing I like the best is putting together good at-bats, I've worked walks, I've had some five- or six-pitch at-bats," Myers said.

Overall, Myers is hitting .272/.344/.465 line with eight home runs and 27 RBIs and 13 doubles.

"I think we've seen the same Wil we saw in April and May. He has the ability to be a game-changing player. Since he's been back from the injury, he's gained more confidence through the at-bats," said Padres hitting coach Mark Kotsay.

"I think he's just feeling more comfortable overall. I think he's done great job of settling in."
