Sore wrist bumps Myers out of lineup vs. Giants

SAN DIEGO -- Wil Myers was a late scratch before Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Giants at Petco Park as a precaution due to left wrist discomfort.

Myers, who was in the team's original lineup in center field and hitting leadoff, had surgery June 18 to remove a bone spur on the back of the wrist. He entered as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning, striking out ahead of Yangervis Solarte's two-run double that tied the game at 2.

Myers missed 98 games earlier this season with two disabled-list stints that were related to the wrist injury, first for 28 games with what was termed tendinitis and then 70 games after surgery.

Myers returned to the team's active roster Sept. 4 and entered Wednesday hitting .241 with three home runs, eight RBIs and 12 walks in 16 games.

Travis Jankowski replaced Myers in center field.
