Goldschmidt wins D-backs Heart and Hustle Award

PHOENIX -- D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was named the club's recipient of the 2015 Heart and Hustle Award, handed out by the MLB Players Alumni Association.

The MLBPAA formed 30 committees, comprised of Alumni players with established relationships to each team. One player from each team is chosen by the committees based on their passion, desire and work ethic demonstrated both on and off the field.

Goldschmidt is having a remarkable season, batting .341 with 21 home runs and a Majors-best 72 RBIs entering Tuesday's game. He has also swiped 17 bases and provided plus defense at first.

"In every way, on and off the field, he demonstrates the attributes defined by this award," said D-backs chief baseball officer Tony La Russa in a press release.

The MLBPAA committees will vote to select an overall Heart and Hustle Award winner from the 30 team recipients. The final winner will be announced on Nov. 10 at the 16th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City.
