Reliever Garcia hits DL with forearm strain

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right-hander Luis Garcia made just one appearance since May 8, but the team placed him on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a strained right forearm.

The move made room for right-hander David Buchanan on the 25-man roster. Buchanan started Saturday in his Major League debut against the Dodgers.

Garcia has a 15.75 ERA (seven earned runs in four innings) in three appearances this season. The move leaves the Phillies with just six relievers in the bullpen. It might not last for long.

"For the short-term, we're fine today," Sandberg said. "To have six bench players, I'd rather have the other arm in the bullpen. But we're covered for today, so that could be a day-to-day thing."
