Phil's BBQ wins Stadium Food King Challenge

The Padres and Phil's BBQ were voted the winners in the Stadium Food King Challenge by USA Today Sports to determine which ballpark has the best dining options.

The Phil's BBQ EL Toro tri-tip sandwich outlasted eight other teams selected as finalists, including winning the head-to-head matchups with the D-backs' Sonoran Dog, Brewers' pulled pork parfait and Royals' Cheesy Brisket-acho in the finals.

"San Diegans know Phil's BBQ is some of the best ballpark food you can find, so it's great to see Phil's receive the national recognition it deserves," Padres Vice President, Concessions & Retail Scott Marshall said in a press release. "The Padres are committed to showcasing the best food San Diego has to offer, and having Phil's in the ballpark this season has been a fantastic addition to our concessions lineup."

USA Today took open submissions starting July 1, then launched a social media challenge on July 9 between eight Major League teams and their best dish.

Phil's BBQ is located in right field at Petco Park.

"Any time you can beat out a great BBQ state like Kansas, it's a good day," Phil's BBQ owner Phil Pace said in a release. "Being located inside the ballpark has been a lot of fun for our BBQrew, and we look forward to serving many more fans at Petco."
