Pirates Homestand Highlights Thursday, September 12 thru Sunday, September 22, 2013

The Pirates return to PNC Park from a nine-game road trip that took the team to Milwaukee, St. Louis and Texas. The Bucs come back to Pittsburgh for an 11-game homestand as they play host to the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds. The 12th and final regular season homestand is highlighted by the Baseball Equipment Drive on Friday, September 13 and Skyblast featuring Neon Trees on Saturday, September 21.

  • Meet Tabata: Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata will greet fans and sign autographs today from 11 a.m. to noon at the Robinson Township T-Mobile location in Lafayette Plaza (213 Summit Park Drive, Pittsburgh PA).
  • Star Appearance: Pirates outfielder Starling Marte will greet fans and sign autographs today from noon to 1 p.m. at the PNC Bank located at 176 Bakery Square Blvd, Pittsburgh, Pa 15206.
  • Baseball Equipment Drive: Tonight the Pirates will partner with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) to host a baseball and softball equipment drive at PNC Park. Pirates Charities will be collecting new and gently used baseball and softball equipment on Federal Street to support the Pittsburgh Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program.
  • BTF Check Presentation: As part of today's equipment drive Pirates BTF representative, infielder Jordy Mercer will take part in a special pregame on-field check presentation with the Pittsburgh Reviving Baseball Inner Cities.
  • Perfect Road Trip: Tonight 10 finalists will be on the field at PNC Park to take part in a special pregame ceremony to determine the Grand Prize winner of a two (2) year lease of a 2013 Honda Civic Sedan LX, a $500 PNC Visa gift card and tickets to a Pirates road game in 2014. This season the Pirates teamed up with Western Pennsylvania Honda Dealers to offer the "Perfect Road Trip" promotion
  • Free Shirt Friday: The Pirates popular Free Shirt Friday continues as all fans, with paid admission, will receive a free Pirates tee courtesy of Western Pennsylvania Toyota Dealers.

Saturday, September 14, 2013-Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

  • Meet Lunchbox: Pirates outfielder Travis Snider will greet fans and sign autographs today from 11 a.m. to noon at the Squirrel Hill T-Mobile location (5851 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA).
  • Meet Teke: Former Pirates pitcher Kent Tekulve will greet fans and sign autographs today from 11 a.m. to noon at the Monroeville Giant Eagle (4010 Monroeville Boulevard, Monroeville, PA 15146).
  • Cutch Meet and Greet: During batting practice, Andrew McCutchen will meet with kids from the YMCA Lighthouse Project, which is an afterschool program, based out of Westinghouse High School. The program teaches youth leadership and career readiness through the media arts of film, photography, graphic design and music production. This year, the Lighthouse Project raised funds for "Pittsburgh to Prague," a project that allowed the group to perform at the 2013 YMCA Global Teen Leadership Conference in Prague, Czech Republic. Upon learning that the group's funding fell just short of their goal, McCutchen, by way of Pirates Charities, covered the remaining costs for the trip. The teens have returned safely from their trip and would like to personally thank McCutchen for his generosity.
  • Fireworks Night: Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats immediately following the game and enjoy an amazing fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks International, presented by Yuengling Oktoberfest.
  • Scratch and Win: Everyone is a winner with the special Scratch 'n Win presented by Eat 'n Park. All fans will receive a scratch-off ticket upon entering PNC Park with an opportunity to win one of several great prizes.

Sunday, September 15, 2013-Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs (1:35 p.m.) Kids Day

  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club and more.
  • Grandparents Day: Join us on Federal Street as we capture brand new memories at PNC Park during Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Grandparents Month. This Grandparents Day celebration is dedicated to showing appreciation for family and filling another page in the photo album. For complete information visit pirates.com/grandparents.
  • Kids Fathead Jr.: All kids 14 and under, with paid admission, will receive the Pirates kids Fathead Jr. wall decals, courtesy of Mrs. T's Pierogies.
  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today's game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park.
  • Butterfly Bandits: Today the Pirates will host the Butterfly Bandits Thyroid Cancer Awareness Day. Tickets were sold for a special section of PNC Park and as part of the day, there will be a special pregame tailgate on the North Shore that will include Pirates and Steelers alumni.
  • Pirates Tales: Today starting at noon, a Pirates player (TBD) will read Casey at the Bat to 220 preselected local youth on the Pirates Deck. The Pirate Parrot will also make an appearance and act out the book as the player reads along. Each youth in attendance will receive a bag full of items including books, a Pirates promotional item, a Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh item and $5 in Aramark Dollars. Pirates Tales is a summer reading program for Pittsburgh area youth in grades one thru six, presented by Pirates Charities in partnership with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Reading Is FUNdamental Pittsburgh, Allegheny County Library Association, and The Consortium for Public Education.

Monday, September 16, 2013-Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • VIP Night: Pirates and Pirates Charities Chairman Bob Nutting will host a VIP (Very Important Pirate) Party for families from Operation Troop Appreciation and the Wounded Warriors Project. The groups will be special guests of Mr. Nutting and will watch the game from a PNC Park luxury suite. Mr. Nutting will host a VIP Party each month during the season in order to provide deserving children with a night at the ballpark in true VIP-style, complete with a private meet-and-greet with Pirates players and coaches, a Pirates replica jersey and VIP goodie
  • bag for each child. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a pregame ceremony and enjoy a great ballpark menu items provided by Levy Restaurants.
  • Mentoring Day: Tonight the Pirates, in partnership with the mentoring partnership of southwestern Pennsylvania, will host Mentoring Day at PNC Park as 275 mentors and mentees from local organizations will be special guests of the team. There will be a special table behind section 135 with information on becoming a mentor.

Tuesday, September 17, 2013-Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • Roberto Clemente Day: As part of the celebration in honor of the great Roberto Clemente, Pirates players, coaches and front office staff will again visit a Pittsburgh area school to deliver much needed school supplies and equipment. This year the Pirates will visit Spring Hill Elementary (1351 Damas Street), a Pittsburgh public school for an 11 a.m. assembly and to hand deliver school supplies and equipment.
  • Pirates Community Commitment Program: As part of the celebration in honor of the great Roberto Clemente, the Pirates will recognize the team's Clemente Award winner and one player from each of their minor league affiliates as the recipients of the organization's sixth annual Pirates Community Commitment Program awards in a pregame on-field ceremony before tonight's game. The Community Commitment Program encourages players throughout the Pirates' system to emulate Clemente's legacy of community service.
  • Bucs Ticket Tuesday: Today at NOON a Pirates Pierogie will be at a Giant Eagle location (TBD) with 50 pairs of FREE tickets as part of the Pirates "Bucs Ticket Tuesday" social media promotion. The first 50 people to meet the Pierogie will receive two free tickets to an upcoming game.
  • PNC Community Achiever Award: PNC Bank and Pirates Charities will present the PNC Community Achiever Award and a $5,000 grant to ABOARD Autism in a pregame ceremony.

Wednesday, September 18, 2013-Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (7:05 p.m.)

  • Shining Stars: Today a group of 50 from the Shining Stars Foundation will perform the National Anthem in sign language. The St. Bernard School in Mt. Lebanon will perform the National Anthem in sign language as a tribute to longtime Pirates organist, Vince Lascheid. Vince played church organ at St. Bernard Church for over 30 years.
  • Social Media Night: Join us for a party on the deck tonight as the Pirates host the final Social Media Night of the season at PNC Park. For $20 fans will receive a seat on the Pirates Left Field Deck PLUS $10 in loaded value on the game ticket to be redeemed at any PNC Park concession or merchandise stand. Participants will also receive an @Pirates t-shirt and a special invite to the pre-game reception on the Left Field Deck starting at 5:30 p.m. The reception will include an appearance by Pirates players, prizes and giveaways.   • Magnetic Schedule Night: The 2014 Pirates schedule has been released and now you can plan your trips to PNC Park as all fans, with paid admission, receive a 2014 Pirates magnetic schedule.
  • Cheerleading Day: Today beginning at 1 p.m. local cheerleading and dance squads will compete in a special cheer and dance competition on Federal Street as part of Cheerleading Day at PNC Park. Both the champion cheer squad and champion dance team will be honored prior to tonight's game in a special pregame on-field ceremony.
  • Skyblast and Neon Trees: After tonight's game, all fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for the second SkyBlast of the season, presented by Iron City Beer, featuring a performance by Neon Trees in conjunction with fireworks courtesy of Zambelli. NOW for only $25 fans can purchase a pass to watch the concert from the field as pass holders will be accompanied to the infield of PNC Park to experience the postgame concert from the base of the stage.   • Fan Appreciation Day: Prizes will be given out throughout the game to select ticket holders. Prizes include 2013 Postseason tickets, gift cards, 2014 season tickets and more. Also the Pirates will be announcing seat locations of fans throughout the game that have been chosen for the opportunity to go onto the field post-game and receive a game worn jersey autographed by the Pirates player.

Online-only Postseason Presale

The Pirates are making postseason tickets available to as many fans as possible through a special online-only presale opportunity. This registration process allows all fans an equal chance for purchasing tickets to potential games at PNC Park.

Fans must complete and submit the form on pirates.com/postseason to be registered for a chance to purchase tickets to potential 2013 postseason games at PNC Park prior to general public on-sale. Fans need to register just once for the opportunity to purchase tickets to all rounds of the 2013 postseason, including the potential National League Wild Card

Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles

New for the 2013 season are the Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles. The 50/50 Raffles will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are three (3) tickets for $5, 10 tickets for $10 and 40 tickets for $20 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn and announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot. Winning numbers will also be posted on www.pirates.com/5050raffle within three business days.

Hunt Auctions

The Hunt Auctions kiosk, specializing in sports memorabilia, including game-used and authenticated items, is located behind section 125 on the main concourse at PNC Park. Unique items are available each homestand and fans will have the opportunity to purchase items at the kiosk or at pirates.com/authentics.

Wins for Kids

During the 2013 season, Pirates Charities is again partnering with manager Clint Hurdle, his wife Karla and ROOT SPORTS to present the Wins for Kids fundraising campaign. The campaign encourages fans to donate a dollar amount for every Pirates win during the season or make a one-time donation to the program. All funds raised will benefit Pirates

Dynamic Pricing Section

New for 2013, the Pirates have expanded their dynamic pricing system to include both the Bleacher Reserve and Upper Bleacher Reserve sections of PNC Park. Tickets for the 2,400 seats, located in left field, will be placed on sale 10-days prior to each home game. The initial ticket price will then be adjusted- both lower and higher- in real time, based on several factors. 2013 Fan Values
