Slugger to be honored for BBWAA award at Dr Pepper Awards Dinner

First baseman Prince Fielder has been selected as the Rangers Player of the Year by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. He will be honored at the annual Dr Pepper Awards Dinner, to be held on Jan. 22 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine.

Fielder hit .305 with 23 home runs and 98 RBIs in 158 games for the Rangers, finishing sixth in the league in batting average and ninth in RBIs. He was selected to play in this year's All-Star Game and last week was named the 2015 American League Comeback Player of the Year by The Sporting News.

Tickets for the Dr Pepper Awards Dinner are priced at $100 each with tables of 10 available for $1000. Net proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. The dinner will begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale now at www.texasrangers.com/awards.
