Cain's scheduled workout washed out by rain

KANSAS CITY -- Center fielder Lorenzo Cain's plan for an expanded workout on Tuesday was thwarted when pregame practice was called off because of rain and wet grounds at Kauffman Stadium.

Cain is on the disabled list with a left groin strain. He's been out since April 16.

"Today was supposed to be a full day for me as far as a workout, but the rain kind of messed that up," Cain said. "But I've been hitting in the cage, I've been doing baserunning while the guys were on the road. I just kind of wanted to get on the field and really, really test it out with cuts and all the outfield drills. But, as of right now, I'm feeling pretty good."

Cain expects to go out on a Minor League injury rehabilitation assignment soon.

"Hopefully in a few days, I'll be out of here and rehab somewhere, and get back up here as soon as possible," he said.
