Rangers announce Spring Training schedule

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers will open the first of 31 exhibition games on Feb. 27 against the Royals at Surprise Stadium.

The Rangers announced their Spring Training schedule on Tuesday, and it includes an exhibition game against the Quintana Roo Tigers of the Triple-A Mexican League on March 27 at the Ballpark in Arlington. The Tigers are the defending champions of the Mexican League.

The Rangers will end their Spring Training schedule with two games against the Astros in San Antonio on March 28-29. The Rangers open the season on March 31 against the Phillies at the Ballpark in Arlington.

The Rangers are scheduled to play 28 games in Arizona, including 17 at Surprise Stadium. The Rangers will be the visiting team for three of four games against the Royals. The two teams play on Feb. 27-28 and March 17 and 22.

The Rangers will host the White Sox twice in Surprise and all other Cactus League teams once except the D-backs. Those two teams are not scheduled to play against each other next spring.

The Rangers' two biggest draws in Surprise will be night games. The Rangers play the Giants at 6:05 p.m. MT on March 13 and the Cubs at 7:05 p.m. on March 18. The Rangers' game against the Royals on March 17 will also be at 6:05 p.m. in Surprise. The only other night game is 7:05 p.m. on March 14 against the Reds in Goodyear.

All day games are scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. MT, except the last game on March 26 against the Mariners in Surprise. That will start one hour earlier for getaway day.
