Berkman tossed in first inning after strikeout

First time any member of the Rangers has been ejected from a game this season

ARLINGTON -- Designated hitter Lance Berkman was ejected for arguing a called third strike in the first inning against the Royals on Saturday.

Berkman approached home plate umpire Todd Tichenor after his third straight called strike in the at-bat. A prolonged conversation led to Berkman's ejection, after which Rangers manager Ron Washington ran out of the dugout to argue.

Jeff Baker pinch-hit for Berkman in the fourth inning in the No. 3 spot. It was the first time a Rangers player or staff member was tossed from a game this season.
