Furukawa named Good Guy Award winner

ARLINGTON -- Rangers scout Joe Furukawa has been named the 2012 Harold McKinney Good Guy Award winner by the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Furukawa, a Pacific Rim international scout for the Rangers, worked closely with pitcher Yu Darvish in the right-hander's first Major League season in 2012. As part of his duties, Furukawa served as Darvish's interpreter for all press conferences and media availabilities.

Furukawa will receive his award at the 2013 Texas Rangers Dr Pepper Awards Show, which will be held in conjunction with Texas Rangers Fan Fest on Friday, Jan. 11 at the Arlington Convention Center.

Other award winners include Player of the Year Adrian Beltre, Pitcher of the Year Matt Harrison and Rookie of the Year Darvish. Tickets for Fan Fest, which will take place January 11-12, are on sale at texasrangers.com/fanfest or by calling 972-RANGERS.
