Rays-Royals game rained out; fans evacuated

KANSAS CITY -- Monday night's game between the Royals and Rays at Kauffman Stadium scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CT was postponed due to rain and the threat of tornadoes in the area.

About 90 minutes prior to game time, the stadium staff evacuated all fans and personnel into the underground tunnels. The postponement announcement came about 20 minutes later. Fans were kept in the underground tunnels until the tornado threat passed.

The game will be made up as a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. CT before the second game at 7:10 p.m. Chris Young will start the twin-bill opener, while Monday night's scheduled starter, Edinson Volquez, will get the call for the nightcap.

Fans with tickets to Monday's scheduled game may use them for admission to the first game only on Tuesday. Fans should maintain their parking receipts from Monday's scheduled game, as they will be useable for the 1:10 p.m. game. Fans can exchange their unused tickets to a future Royals regular-season Monday through Thursday game prior to Sept. 9, 2015, based on availability at time of redemption.
