Red Sox head list of postseason shares

Major League Baseball's postseason shares were announced Thursday, with the World Series champion Red Sox's full share worth $307,322.68, and a full share for the National League champion Cardinals worth $228,300.17.

Each figure was down from last season's record-high totals for the World Series champion Giants ($370,872.53) and American League champion Tigers ($284,274.50).

The full money pool was formed by 50 percent of the gate from the Wild Card Games, 60 percent of the gate from the first three games of the Division Series, 60 percent of the gate from the first four games of the League Championship Series and 60 percent of the gate from the first four games of the World Series.

The full pool of $62,683,966.80 was split among the 10 postseason teams, with the breakdown for the final four teams as follows:

• The Red Sox were awarded 58 full shares, 14.895 partial shares and 21 cash awards.
• The Cardinals were awarded 56 full shares, 9.798 partial shares and two cash awards.
• The Tigers were awarded 48 full shares, 10.015 partial shares and five cash awards.
• The Dodgers were awarded 58 full shares, 11.5 partial shares and eight cash awards.
