Ranaudo hurls scoreless ball, halts PawSox's skid
Red Sox's No. 8 prospect has allowed just one run over his last three starts
Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo, the Red Sox's No. 8 prospect, threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings Monday, leading Triple-A Pawtucket to a 3-2 victory against Gwinnett. The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak for the PawSox.
Ranaudo, ranked No. 96 on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects list, struck out four batters and allowed four hits and four walks. He threw 106 pitches and was within one out of matching his longest outing of the season.
Ranaudo has allowed just one run in his last three starts, a stretch of 19 1/3 innings. In 11 games this season, he is 5-3 with a 2.90 ERA. He has struck out 53 batters and walked 32 in 59 innings.
Monday also marked the first game in Triple-A for first baseman Travis Shaw, the Red Sox's No. 19 prospect. He started the season with Double-A Portland and hit .305 with a .954 OPS and 11 home runs in 47 games for the Sea Dogs.
Shaw batted fifth in the PawSox lineup and went 1-for-3 in his debut.
