Pedroia exits with foot discomfort, but scan negative
BOSTON -- Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia had to leave Friday night's 5-3, 10-inning loss to the Astros in the top of the ninth inning due to some discomfort in his right foot, but results of a fluoroscan were negative.
In other words, Pedroia is day to day and could return to the lineup as early as Saturday.
Pedroia fouled a ball off his foot in the bottom of the third, but stayed in the game for five more innings before Kelly Johnson replaced him at second base to start the ninth.
"Obviously, he's sore," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "We'll check him in the morning to see, or when he reports tomorrow, to see if he's available. He's a little bit sore after tonight."
