Assistant hitting coach Tinsley placed on leave

CINCINNATI -- Reds assistant hitting coach Lee Tinsley was placed on administrative leave by the club on Friday after he was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired on Thursday.

Tinsley was booked at the Carroll County, Ky., detention center Thursday morning and released, learned. WXIX-TV reported that documents showed the 46-year-old registered a breathalyzer test result of .08.

"Currently, Lee is on administrative leave. That's about as much as we're going to really say about that," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "It's really just kind of fact finding at this point in time. And that might take a little while."

Tinsley, a Shelbyville, Ky., native, is in his second season as assistant hitting coach for Cincinnati. He also played five Major League seasons for three clubs from 1993-97.
