Elmore claimed off waivers by Pirates

CINCINNATI -- Infielder Jake Elmore was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Friday, thus ending a brief tenure with the Reds.

The Reds had claimed the 27-year-old off waivers from the A's on Aug. 2. He was called up in September and went 2-for-11 in five big league games for Cincinnati.

Elmore spent most of the 2014 season at Triple-A, batting a combined .281 (75-for-267) with Louisville and Sacramento.

The Reds' 40-man roster now stands at 38 players.
