Price successfully challenges safe call at first

CINCINNATI -- Reds manager Bryan Price successfully challenged a safe call at first base in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Red Sox at Great American Ball Park.

With Boston leading, 3-2, and Xander Bogaerts at first with nobody out, Christian Vazquez hit a slow ground ball to second. Ramon Santiago fielded it and tossed to shortstop Zack Cozart at second for the force out, and Cozart barehanded the ball and fired to first. Vazquez was originally called safe by first-base umpire Jerry Meals.

Following a one-minute, 48-second review, the call was overturned and Vazquez was ruled out. The next batter, Will Middlebrooks, grounded out to second to end the inning.
