Reds tap Villarreal to be 26th man for twin bill

CHICAGO -- Because they were playing in a traditional doubleheader on Saturday vs. the White Sox following Friday's rainout, the Reds added a 26th man to the roster for Game 2. Reliever Pedro Villarreal was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to fill that role.

It's Villarreal's second big league callup of the season. He pitched two scoreless innings of one-hit ball vs. the Cubs on April 18.

In eight games this season for Louisville, the right-handed Villarreal has a 4.26 ERA, allowing 12 hits, two walks and recording nine strikeouts over 12 2/3 innings.
