Frazier, Cozart need boost for ASG in Cincy

Reds third baseman, shortstop third and fifth, respectively; Votto, Phillips out of top five

CINCINNATI -- Third baseman Todd Frazier and shortstop Zack Cozart remain as the only two Reds in their position's top five in the latest round of the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot fan voting.

Nothing changed from a week ago for either Frazier and Cozart, with both remaining third and fifth, respectively.

Frazier crossed the million-vote mark this week, coming in with 1,064,886. However, he is still far behind the leader of the pack, the Cardinals' Matt Carpenter, who nearly triples Frazier's total with 3,140,056 votes.

Frazier is hitting .282 (60-for-213) with 16 home runs and 36 RBIs this season. His 16 homers are tied for fourth in the National League and sixth in the Major Leagues.

Cozart picked up nearly 200,000 more votes this week to push his total to 734,027, but like Frazier, he is trailing the leader by a large portion. Jhonny Peralta of the Cardinals remained the top vote-getter for shortstops for a third straight week with 2,441,384 votes.

Cozart is batting .261 (49-for-188) with eight home runs and 25 RBIs. He went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBIs on Monday night in a 6-4 win over the Phillies.

For a second straight week, neither first baseman Joey Votto nor second baseman Brandon Phillips were in the top five at their positions. Both were ranked in the top five in the first update of fan voting, but fell out of the top five last week.
