Registration now open for Spartan Race at Citizens Bank Park on August 31

World’s leading obstacle course comes to Philadelphia

The ultimate obstacle course is coming to Philadelphia.

Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies, is hosting its first ever Spartan Race on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Spartan Race, the world’s leading obstacle racing series, was voted Outside Magazine’s “Best Obstacle Race” in 2012. With more than 500,000 participants and 60+ events planned around the globe in 2013, Spartan Race is a trailblazer in one of the fastest growing sports in the world.

For one day only, fans will have a chance to run a time trial through Citizens Bank Park, one of the best major league ballparks in the country. Spartan Race will set up the obstacles around the interior of the ballpark, using existing structures and contours along with specially-designed obstacles.

“The unique obstacle course will demand every ounce of strength, ingenuity and animal instinct you thought you lost three generations ago,” said the Spartan Race founder and CEO Joe De Sena. “But racers won’t know the details of the course until they experience them firsthand on race day. You may not think you have it in you. But you do. And you’ll see what you’re capable of on August 31.”

Spartan Race for Kids

The Spartan Race at Citizens Bank Park is not limited to adult fun. Kids ages 4-13 can participate in a Jr. Spartan or Varsity Spartan Race, where participants will enjoy the thrill of the run, a variety of scaled down obstacles and their own mini festival area filled with games and children's challenges.
