Rehabbing Anibal, Soria see early progress
PITTSBURGH -- While the Tigers' medical staff received good news on test results for Justin Verlander on Tuesday, they're reporting incremental progress from Anibal Sanchez and Joakim Soria in their injury rehabs.
Sanchez, who was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a right pectoral muscle strain, stayed in Detroit this week to begin physical therapy, according to head athletic trainer Kevin Rand.
That process could last anywhere from 10 days to two weeks, team president/general manager Dave Dombrowski noted when he announced the injury. From there, he would resume his throwing program.
As for Soria, he remains with the team and has been receiving treatment on his left oblique strain. He, too, can't resume throwing until the injury is completely clear.
"He's noted a little bit of improvement at this point, " Rand said.
