Rehabbing Peacock suffers setback

Right-hander to be evaluated in Houston after Double-A outing cut short

HOUSTON -- Astros right-handed pitcher Brad Peacock, who's been on the disabled list since April 15 with a left intercostal strain, was scheduled to fly back to Houston this weekend to be re-evaluated after having his rehab assignment at Double-A Corpus Christi cut short.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Saturday that Peacock didn't come out of his rehab outing Thursday feeling too well. He threw two scoreless innings, allowed two hits, one walk and hitting a batter while throwing 37 pitches. He was scheduled to make a few more starts for the Hooks, but his future now is uncertain.

"I feel bad for him," Hinch said. "I'm not sure what it means, and I don't want to rush to too many judgments until we talk to him. To have this rehab stint interrupted is certainly not something he wants or something we want."

Peacock went 4-9 with a 4.72 ERA in 28 games (24 starts) for the Astros last year before having arthroscopic surgery Oct. 6 to repair a torn labrum and remove bone spurs in his right hip. He reported to spring camp 30 pounds lighter and made one start with the Astros on April 14 before suffering his latest injury.
