Rosario reports no problems in first start off DL

NEW YORK -- Wilin Rosario returned to the Rockies' lineup in a 2-0 loss to the Mets on Tuesday after more than two weeks on the disabled list and two additional games in which he started on the Colorado bench.

His night started with a bang -- to right-center for a ground-rule double -- and ended with a grounder. The latter ended the Rockies' rally in the ninth inning, stranding three runners against Mets reliever Jeurys Familia.

The 1-for-4 night did not completely take away from the relief Rosario felt to finally be back in the starting lineup.

"I like to play, I like to be there," said Rosario, who was sidelined with left wrist inflammation. "I feel good. A little [off] with my timing hitting, but I'll pick it up."

It's fair to expect at least some rust. Rosario didn't go on a rehab assignment with the Minor League regular season is over, so when the club activated him Sunday, manager Walt Weiss opted to take it slow. Rosario pinch-hit Sunday and Monday before getting the start Tuesday.

That was OK with Rosario.

"I feel that [Weiss] knows what he's doing and what is best for me," Rosario said. "[Backup catcher Michael McKenry has] been doing a pretty good job behind the plate, swinging the bat also. It's not fair if we keep him out of the lineup right away."
