Gordon gets Heart and Hustle Award from McRae

KANSAS CITY -- Alex Gordon received the Royals' Heart and Hustle Award prior to Friday night's game.

Presented by former Royals outfielder Brian McRae, the award is given by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association to a player from each club "who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and tradition of the game."

Gordon also won in 2011 and 2013. He is eligible for the national award to be announced Nov. 18 in New York.

Right on cue, in the first inning Friday, Gordon demonstrated his hustle by racing in and diving to catch a line drive by the Giants' Michael Morse.
