Rios' swipe can help fans steal a home

Thanks to the efforts of Alex Rios, one lucky baseball fan could be in line for some financial relief this month.

In the fourth inning of the Royals' game against the Pirates on Monday night, Rios caught the Bucs by surprise, stealing home for his club's second run of the night. And in doing so, Rios activated the Quicken Loans "Steal A Home" program.

Each time a Major Leaguer steals home this regular season, baseball fans everywhere will have an opportunity to win a free mortgage payment of up to $1,500 from Quicken Loans. The entry window remains open for 48 hours immediately after the stolen base, with this one in particular closing at 9:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

The lucky winner will also receive two tickets to see a Major League team of their choice, two MLB jerseys, two MLB.TV subscriptions and a $150 Fathead.com gift card from the MLB.com shop.

And by entering the sweepstakes, you will also be eligible for the Quicken Loans "Steal A Home" grand prize drawing at the end of the regular season, which will award one year's worth of mortgage payments (up to $12,000) and an all-expense paid trip to the 11th World Series opener. The deadline to enter this sweepstakes is open through 11:59 p.m. ET on Oct. 4.

For Rios, it was the seventh bag he swiped this season. Two outs into the fourth, the right fielder doubled on a line drive to left, then advanced to third on a single by Jarrod Dyson. During the next at-bat, Dyson got caught in a rundown between first and second, allowing Rios to cruise by safely to home plate, plating Kansas City's second run of the night.

Rios became the sixth Major Leaguer to steal home this season, two shy of last year's total of eight. Rios joins Baltimore's Jimmy Paredes, Arizona's A.J. Pollock, Toronto's Russell Martin, Pittsburgh's Starling Marte and Houston's Domingo Santana as the only big leaguers to steal home and reward a fan with a free mortgage payment in 2015.
