Royals medical staff named best in baseball

The Royals' medical staff was named best in baseball by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS), which presents its Major League Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award after a vote by the full PBATS membership.

Royals head athletic trainer Nick Kenney and assistant athletic trainer Kyle Turner accepted the award on behalf of the Kansas City medical staff at the Winter Meetings earlier this month in Lake Buena Vista, Fla..

"We're extremely proud of Nick Kenney and our medical team," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. "They are very gifted people, who are very skilled at what they do. They create a great environment, which helps everyone succeed, and are very proactive in keeping our players on the field. I also want to thank Dr. [Vincent] Key and the medical team from the KU Med Center for all of their support. This is a terrific honor for our entire organization."
