Omaha Storm Chasers (30-20)

The Storm Chasers had a three-game winning streak snapped at New Orleans. Mike Montgomery allowed seven runs on eight hits and four walks over 4 1/3 innings. Matt Dominguez, a high school teammate of Mike Moustakas, delivered the big blow with a three-run homer in the third. Veteran lefty Doug Davis made his first appearance with Omaha. He induced a double play to close the fifth, then fanned two in a 1-2-3 sixth. Tony Abreu recorded two hits, including a double. Wil Myers and hitting coach Tommy Gregg were ejected in the third inning for arguing balls and strikes.

NW Arkansas Naturals (25-23)

Frisco 9, NW Arkansas 6

Northwest Arkansas fell short in the series opener at home. Frisco posted five runs in the first off Chris Dwyer (five innings, nine hits, eight runs -- six earned -- two walks, seven K's and three homers). The Naturals battled back with five in the home half against Barret Loux. Frisco's ace improved to 10-0 in 10 starts, but he allowed a season-high six runs over six innings. Nick Van Stratten recorded three hits and two RBIs for Northwest Arkansas. Lefty Jon Keck tossed a scoreless ninth in his Double-A debut.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (23-24)

Wilmington 2, Myrtle Beach 0

HR: Jose Bonilla (1)

Wilmington blanked Myrtle Beach to even the series at a game apiece. Santiago Garrido scattered six hits and a walk over six innings. He has a combined 0.83 ERA with Kane County and Wilmington (four earned runs in 43 1/3 innings). Cheslor Cuthbert put the Rocks on top with an RBI double in the fourth. Jose Bonilla provided insurance in the seventh with his first homer of 2012.

Kane County Cougars (27-22)

Kane County 5, Beloit 1
WP: Angel Baez (1-0)
SV: Robinson Yambati (1)
HR: None

The Cougars opened with a win vs. Beloit, their fourth straight overall. Murray Watts doubled home three as part of a four-run second. Angel Baez (six innings, three hits, one earned run, three walks and seven strikeouts) earned his first professional win in his 2012 debut.
