Royals welcome Cain back from disabled list

Center fielder has been sidelined since Aug. 9 due to oblique injury

KANSAS CITY -- Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain, who has been out with an oblique injury, was re-activated prior to Wednesday night's game against the Mariners.

Cain went on the 15-day disabled list on Aug. 9 with a .261 average, 25 extra-base hits and 43 RBIs in 96 games.

"He can help us. He can improve our outfield defense for the back third of the game," manager Ned Yost said.
