Royals well represented in '15 Legacy Awards

KANSAS CITY -- The World Series champion Royals were well represented in the 2015 Legacy Awards issued by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Ned Yost was the museum's choice to receive the C.I. Taylor Legacy Award as the American League manager of the year, general manager Dayton Moore was named the winner of the Rube Foster Award as the AL executive of the year and center fielder Lorenzo Cain received the inaugural Monarchs Award, which will be presented annually to the player of the year.

The awards will be presented at the museum or in stadium during the 2016 season.

Oscar Charleston Award, presented to the AL and National League most valuable players: Josh Donaldson of the Blue Jays and Bryce Harper of the Nationals

Wilbur "Bullet" Rogan Award, presented to the AL and NL pitchers of the year: Dallas Keuchel of the Astros and Zack Greinke of the Dodgers

Larry Doby Award, presented to the AL and NL rookies of the year: Carlos Correa of the Astros and Kris Bryant of the Cubs

Josh Gibson Award, presented to the AL and NL home run leaders: Chris Davis of the Orioles and Harper and Nolan Arenado of the Rockies

Walter "Buck" Leonard Award, presented to the AL and NL batting champions: Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers and Dee Gordon of the Marlins

Hilton Smith Award, presented to the AL and NL saves leaders: Brad Boxberger of the Rays and Mark Melancon of the Pirates

James "Cool Papa" Bell Award, presented to the AL and NL stolen base leaders: Jose Altuve of the Astros and Gordon

Rube Foster Award, for NL executive of the year: Neal Huntington (Pirates)

C. I. Taylor Award, for NL manager of the year: Joe Maddon (Cubs)
